Do athletes benefit from preoperative physical therapy before ACL-reconstruction?

Successful return to sport (RTS) and competition (RTC) rates are important factors when evaluating the successfulness of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Although functional outcomes mostly satisfying after rehabilitation, a great proportion athletes does not their preoperative level performance. Low leg symmetry index in strength development quadriceps hamstring muscles, female sex, older age, fear reinjury, low self-efficacy long waiting times without any intervention between injury surgery can predict lower RTS rate ACLR. Preoperative physical therapy addressing potential risk may improve elite amateur athletes. usually show high performance injury, prehabilitation – nevertheless enhance successful RTC. Identifying for ACLR contribute decision on modality timing surgery. The evidence-based guidelines considering patient- knee function-related state could provide additional information regarding necessity prehabilitation.

ACL reconstruction in athletes.
What are the most common causes of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in athletes? The most common causes for ACL injury in athletes are noncontact, twisting injuries that involved a pivoting motion. For example, in sports such as soccer, athletes frequently perform motions that plant and twist the lower extremities, putting those who play soccer at one of the highest likelihoods of ACL in...
Evidence-Based ACL Reconstruction
There is controversy in the literature regarding a number of topics related to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)reconstruction. The purpose of this article is to answer the following questions: 1) Bone patellar tendon bone (BPTB) reconstruction or hamstring reconstruction (HR); 2) Double bundle or single bundle; 3) Allograft or authograft; 4) Early or late reconstruction; 5) Rate of return to sp...
ACL Reconstruction: Do Outcomes Differ by Sex?
Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is frequently performed to restore knee stability and function following ACL injury. Female sex is known to predispose to ACL injury; however, it remains unclear whether female sex predisposes to poor outcomes following ACL reconstruction. We hypothesized that male and female patients exhibit no differences in (1) graft failure risk, (...
